After researching poppies we created our own Tower of London inspired art installation in the school playground. Each poppy features a handwritten statement of remembrance to thank fallen soldiers for their sacrifice.

We took a virtual reality tour of a WW1 trench. We listened to commentary and used it to answer questions about trench warfare.

We created a chronological timeline of events in the 20th century. We had to match pictures, dates and events and justify the reasons for our choices.

We visited the National Army Museum. Here we learnt about the use of propaganda to recruit soldiers in World War 1 and took a tour to record facts about the army.

In English, we have been reading Goodnight Mr Tom. We've been writing a letter to Willie's Mum (she's not very nice). To practice our responses we acted as Willie saying his responses in a class hot seating session.

We created our own book covers for Goodnight Mr Tom. These are now displayed proudly in our book corner! To make them we used watercolours.

Why don't you try some of these fun 'brain breaks' at home? They refresh your mind!

We've designed our own periscopes for different purposes. We know they were used in WW1 to look over the tops of trenches. We're going to try and make our own!
