RE (Religious Education)
Our Religious Education curriculum aims to:
- Enable pupils to develop the knowledge and skills which will allow them to enter into informed discussion about the religious and non-religious traditions that have shaped Great Britain and the world.
- Allow children to thoughtfully consider and take their place within a diverse society.
- Intellectually challenge pupils by engaging them in deeper thinking about concepts and issues, drawing links between their beliefs, the beliefs of others and real-life applications.
Religious Education is delivered through weekly lessons that follow the Newham Agreed Syllabus. Through this syllabus there is coverage of a number of major world religions and world views, that builds up a cumulative bank of knowledge that is revisited and extended as pupils progress through the school. Alongside this, pupils learn the skills they need to draw links between different religious and non-religious beliefs and practises and their own beliefs and practises.
